This a collection of coins and currrency notes collected over 3 generations in my family. I am immensly indebted to my grandfather Late Narayana Upadhya for having collected most of the pre-independence coins of India and having the fore-thought to preserve them for me to see :-)) My father continued the family obsession with coins adding a whole lot of Global angle to the collection. His profession makes him deal with money day in and day out... Consequently he cashed in on the ignorance/stupidity of those people who passed foreign coins among indian ones... He occasionally has even bought some. However, I must say he has a knack of finding good coins... My contribution to the collecion is merely notional. I take pains to bring some order to this otherwise chaotic "family hobby". I some times do my little contribution by urging my collegues to donate coins to "our" collection after their foreign visits. Hence I almost feel that this family hobby is slowly dying down.... This is a desperate attempt to keep it alive.
